Ayden NC Real Estate and Information
Ayden NC History
In 1891, William Henry Harris decided a portion of his farm would be a wonderful place to live if it had a railroad depot. He was able to convince the Atlantic Coast Line to lay tracks and a 40 acre parcel of land became know as ‘Harristown’. The town was incorporated as ‘Ayden’ which legend claims was discovered by a local resident on a map of the world.
Ayden is rich in Southern hospitality and charm. In fact, this close-knit community boasts a scenic historic downtown district with all the charm and ambience of days gone by. Neighborhoods here are peaceful and quiet, and you will find a wide variety of beautiful homes from which to choose. Currently, about 5,000 people call this charming community home. Ayden’s vision involves attracting people to town by providing a “clean, attractive, and safe community for families to reside.”
