Winterville NC Real Estate and Information
Winterville NC History
Winterville NC is a relaxed, friendly, Pitt County community approximately 10 minutes south of Greenville NC. Winterville’s roots are cotton and the railroad, thanks to Amos Graves Cox, who brought his young bride to a log cabin near to what is now the road to Renston in 1880. Mr. Cox’s cotton farm grew to over 75 acres and in 1890 the Atlantic Coastline Railroad laid track near the property. Winterville was incorporated in 1897.
Winterville offers small town, suburban living to its 7,698 residents and is growing at a rate of approximately 1000 new residents per year.
Today, the town’s largest employer is The Roberts Company, an industrial manufacturer and exporter.
Winterville is known for its annual Watermelon Festival held in August each year. The 3-day festival offers fun for the whole family with a parade, amusement rides, watermelon contests, games, face painting, crafts, a flea market, and concerts under the stars.
